I absolutely LOVE a chilled glass of Rose wine in the summer. People ask me if I only like it because it’s pink..NO…well maybe!! It’s so fun and casual and I love drinking it under the sun…
little trick: if your wine is not as cold as you’d like it to be, put a couple of ice cubes in it, swirl them around, and pick out with a fork – great way to chill without diluting!
There are a couple Roses that I am drinking this summer: a local one, JOIE, is a classic favourite: http://www.joie.ca/
The Joie Rose 2010 is 53% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier (a wine commonly used to make champagne), 12% Gamay, and 10% Pinot Gris…it is a light and lively wine with a depth that is not always matched by other rose’s. It is like drinking a nice white, with a bit more complexity.
My FAVOURITE, however, has to be 8th Generation. I tried this one night at Rangoli on West 11th, http://www.vijsrangoli.ca/
The 8th Generation (http://www.8thgenerationvineyard.com/) Rose is absolutely delicious.
It is currently sold out at liquor stores and even specialty wine stores, but you can definitely get it at Vij’s or Rangoli, so head on over and taste an incredible summer Rose!!
