#WineWednesday: Think Pink Brunch Edition

Hey Y’all! Happy #WineWednesday. You know it’s my favourite day of the week. While I won’t be indulging tonight (I’m getting over a cold), I did want to share the wines that I chose for mine and Gilian’s Think Pink Brunch hosted on Camille Styles. Being brunch, it’s really nice to keep things light and fresh. Instead of doing a full pairing menu with each food, I wanted to start with a mimosa (recipe below) and move to rosé throughout the meal. I wanted a pink mimosa, so I tried grapefruit juice instead of orange. I absolutely loved the result! It was more refreshing, a little less sweet, and my new go to brunch drink!

To make the mimosa, fill the glass with prosecco ¾ of the way and top with the juice you desire. Grapefruit is a great alternative to orange and keeps you refreshed.

For the rosé, I wanted something punch in colour, and bold in taste to go with the smoked salmon bites. I found the perfect match in Olivares Jumilla Rose. At $12.99, this wine is a STEAL and a half. Bold flavours like strawberry round out this refreshing sipper, and I wouldn’t hesitate to serve it at night time either.

I wanted to keep the glassware simple and elegant. Gillian found those gorgeous hot pink cups, so we decided to play with the heights of the glasses by using my super tall Champagne glasses for the mimosa, and a geometric white wine glass for the rosé. I truly believe the glassware you drink your beverages of can have a huge impact on the taste of your wine.
