My Skincare Routine

From a young age I was always taught to take care of my skin. Way back then (I think I started around age 12) I used Éminence which I absolutely loved. You grow up and your so does your skin, so it’s always good to change it up. That’s what I started doing in my twenties, but I had a really bad reaction to a face cream and was so nervous to try anything new. Since then, I’ve stuck to products with natural ingredients. I was so excited when NUDE Skincare sent me a few goodies. I would never post about something just because it was sent to me, but I’m not lying when I say this stuff has changed my skin for the better. I look forward to washing my face every morning and evening, and my skin is so smooth and happy.

From left to right, this is my skincare routine. On the left is the Detox Gentle Brightening Fizzy Powder Wash which I use three times a week when I wash my hair (yes, I only wash my hair three times a week MAX). It is an exfoliator but it turns into such a nice paste when you add a little water, and it makes your skin so smooth (especially during these dry winter months). Second from the left is my day and night Perfect Cleanse Omega Cleansing Jelly. When I first used this, I actually missed the sudsy, foamy texture of my old face wash, but I’m now a total convert. It cleans without stripping your face of essential oils. On the far right was my saving grace when I was spending the day in the sun in Maui. No joke, this rescue oil has changed my life. It is packed with backuchiol which is “nature’s answer to retinol” – if that doesn’t convince you I don’t know what will. Lastly, I’ve been using that Dermalogica eye serum for a few years because it’s super hydrating and completely eliminates the fine lines below my eyes.

I took this photo at midnight after flying home for 6 hours and using all of my products for a couple of weeks. My skin is way more nourished and hydrated than it every has been and in result I’ve been wearing way less makeup everyday.

I hope you find this helpful! I would also love to know which skincare products you love!

PS I almost deleted that selfie above out of sheer embarrassment but I figured it would be best to show you the results so you know how I really feel about this skincare line!

Spain Travel Diary

Surprise! I went to Spain last week! I know I usually post when I am going on a trip, but this one was top secret as I was surprising my cousin best friend on her graduation trip with her mom! Her mom and I knew about this and planned it for about 6 months and it was all realized two Fridays ago when I stepped on the plane and surprised her!! It was one of the best moments of my life. Isn’t it just amazing to pull off a surprise? The plane ride over was the best time as we gabbed, drank wine, caught up, and talked about the adventures to ensue once we touched down.

We went to Barcelona to stay with family friends and then Madrid for two days where I got to see an old friend and fell in love with the city. It was an amazing week and I came back energized for life and already wanting to jet back to Europe!

Here are some pictures from our trip, and I’ll make sure to outline more specifically what we did in each city and some of the Spanish wine we drank (hint: it is incredible).

Weekend Snapshots

This weekend involved a lot of my favourite things: dinner out with friends, some productive work, celebrations with champagne, the farmer’s market, flowers, gardening, a family dinner, and seeing The Great Gatsby (I loved it – am I the only one?)

The Ascot is one of my favourite places to go for happy hour. I went with my classmates after a long class on Friday, and the Mint Julep below was more than welcome!

The above photos are from a wedding that I coordinated on Saturday. It was a great day, and the sun came out for some beautiful photos. The floral arrangement above is a great DIY for brides trying to keep costs down – a few hydrangeas in mason jars with ribbons and DIY tags. They looked amazing!

Shortly after the wedding ended, I headed out to a good friend’s engagement party. It was so nice seeing the happy couple celebrate the upcoming nuptials. I loved the backyard decor – cafe lights strung across the yard, mason jars with candles, and beautiful calla lilies grown in the garden.

Sunday afternoon was filled with gardening. The pot above is the first gardening experience that I’ve ever had! It was so much fun and I can’t wait to see how they fill in.IMG_4247

True to blogger form, I’m enjoying peony season. I was so thrilled to see a local farmer with her stand lined up at the Farmer’s Market. Good news, she’ll be there for the next few weeks.IMG_4251Not the greatest photo, but I’m so proud of our herb garden! We have the following herbs/veggies planted: arugula, rosemary, parsley, jalapeno, basil, sage, oregano, celery, swiss chard, kale, onions, romaine lettuce, strawberries and cucumbers. I can’t wait to see what we are able to do with our produce in the kitchen!

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for a busy and productive week ahead filled with sunshine breaks and delicious food.
